With a total of, for example, 14, you can still easily accept a card from the dealer.
After you’ve made your choice, you’ll immediately see your final point total. The dealer will then reveal her face-down card, showing the house’s total. Now, the dealer will determine who has the highest total, and therefore is closest to 21. The player with the highest score wins the round.
However, there are still some rules for the dealer. If the total is less than 17, the house is obligated to take another card. If the total is 17 or higher, the dealer is not allowed to take another card, and the house is therefore obligated to stand. If you have more points than the dealer, you win .
